Angela Kelly, the long-time confidant and friend to the late Queen Elizabeth II, is moving to the Peak District from her home in Windsor. The 65-year-old seamstress and stylist, who has been the Personal Assistant and Senior Dresser to the Queen for almost 30 years, was seen loading her belongings onto a van in photos published by the Daily Mail. Wearing a white top and sunglasses, she loaded a mattress and her garden plants onto a parked van outside her home. It is believed that the King, Charles III, gifted Kelly with a house in the Peak District in recognition of her friendship and years of service to the Royal Family. A few weeks ago, Kelly posted a photo of her garden on Instagram and wrote: “Getting ready to say goodbye. Moving into my new home which I can finally call my home.” She revealed in the comments that she was moving to the Peak District, not far from family. This news comes alongside the announcement that the Private Secretary of the late Queen, Sir Edward Young, will be leaving the Royal House after 19 years of service. Angela Kelly first met Her Majesty in 1992, when she was working as a housekeeper for the British ambassador to Germany. Months later, Kelly was offered a job as the Queen’s personal dressmaker. The two developed a very close relationship over the years, with the seamstress acting as confidant and friend to the monarch. In 2006, the Queen recognised Kelly’s dedication to her role by appointing her a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO). In 2014, she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II version of the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal. Kelly even wrote a book to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year, containing information on the late Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, the monarch’s post-lockdown engagements and the Queen’s outfit choices for the Jubilee. In an interview with the Telegraph in 2007, Angela Kelly spoke of her relationship with Queen Elizabeth II: “We’re two typical women. We talk about clothes, make-up, jewellery…” The former Personal Assistant and Senior Dresser to the Queen is now looking forward to starting a new life in the Peak District, a house gifted to her by King Charles III to honour the promises of her late mother.

A few weeks ago, the former assistant posted a photo of her garden on Instagram and wrote: “Getting ready to say goodbye. Moving into my new home which I can finally call my home.” In response to a friend in the comments, she said: “Moving to the Peak District, just up from Sheffield so not too [sic] far from family… Cannot wait to start my new adventures.” Angela Kelly first met Her Majesty by chance in 1992 when she was working as a housekeeper for the British ambassador to Germany.
