On Saturday, May 20, 2023, France 2 aired a new episode of the show called Les Rencontres du Papotin, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Belgian singer Angèle Bi was invited to come and answer questions from the members of the editorial team, which is composed of non-professional journalists with autism spectrum disorders. Towards the end of the show, Angèle Bi was asked to recite a text written by one of the members, called Rudy. She was moved by the words, her emotion was perceptible in her voice. One of the journalists asked her if she was sad, to which she replied: “I’m not sad but I find it touching. That’s what’s beautiful about writing too, sometimes I think we write to mark in time thoughts, things we don’t necessarily know how to say. And when we read a text we’ve written, it allows us to say things we couldn’t say otherwise. We can transmit, we can also understand each other.” During the same show, Angèle Bi was questioned about her sexual orientation. She declared to be bi and pansexual, and added: “I waited until I was 23 to admit that I was really in love with a girl! It was the first time it was so clear. I was in a relationship with this woman [Marie Papillon, with whom she is now separated, ed.], I no longer wanted it to be a secret. When I was a child, I felt like it wasn’t normal. For some people, it isn’t normal. When it shouldn’t be a subject anymore.” Angèle Bi’s emotion was palpable and her words were full of meaning.
