A Terrible Knife Attack
Marie Ducruet was very angry on Thursday 8 June 2023. “I have so much hate. Can’t wait to see what “justice” will be done for this abominable act… All my thoughts go to the victims and their families,” the mother of Victoire (born 4 April last from her union with Louis, son of Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, ed.) wrote on her Instagram account, reposting a video from the media outlet Brut in her story. A message that clearly echoes the terrible knife attack that left six injured, four of them children aged between 22 and 36 months this morning in Annecy. “An attack of absolute cowardice this morning in a park in Annecy. Children and an adult are between life and death. The Nation is shocked. Our thoughts are with them and their families and the rescuers mobilized,” said Emmanuel Macron on Twitter, among other things.
The Main Suspect
The main suspect is a Syrian who has been in France for eight months since Sweden, where he was living, as he could not obtain Swedish nationality. According to Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, “unknown to any intelligence service” and having “no identified psychiatric antecedents”, Abdalmasih H. was arrested and placed in custody and, according to BFMTV, “not in his normal state”. He reportedly “rolled on the ground several times”.
Witnesses of the Scene
It should be noted that the football player Anthony Le Tallec, playing for the Annecy club as an attacker, was a witness to the scene. He was quietly jogging by the lake in Annecy before crossing this man and unfortunately witnessing the attacks. He testified through stories posted on his Instagram account. Finally, a young woman expressed her disbelief at the act attributed to Abdalmasih H., 31, whom she divorced a few months ago. “I don’t know what happened to him, what you’re telling me is terrible. But I haven’t had any contact with him, I don’t know where he lives or how he is doing psychologically,” the ex-wife confided, anonymously.
