Celine Dion’s Health Conditions
Celine Dion is fighting against Stiff Person Syndrome, a neurological illness that progressively blocks the patient, preventing them from moving and speaking. The latest news about the singer comes from her sister Claudette, who told the Canadian newspaper Le Journal de Montreal about all the effort the star is putting into finding the best treatments. This is not an easy task, as the syndrome is rare and does not have a unified treatment protocol.
Celine Dion’s Family Support
Helping Celine Dion close up is another sister, Linda, who moved in to live with her and her three children from her husband René Angélil, who died in 2016. “My sister Linda tells me she’s working hard, she’s listening to the best researchers in the field of this rare disease,” Claudette told the magazine. “Honestly, I think she just needs to rest. She always goes beyond, always trying to be the best and at the highest level. At some point your heart and your body are trying to tell you something, it’s important to listen.” The singer is also working hard to keep her physical form, with the goal of being at her best when she returns to perform. Nobody in the family doubts that she will recover: “We trust her, it’s innate for her. We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important.”
Celine Dion’s Announcement
The singer herself announced the illness in December 2022, in a video. “I have been fighting health issues for a long time and it has been really difficult for me to face these challenges and talk about everything I have been through,” Celine said. “Recently I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called ‘Stiff Person Syndrome’ which affects one in a million people. As we are still learning about this rare condition, I now know that this is what has been causing the spasms I have been experiencing lately.” These spasms affect every aspect of her life, including her ability to sing. For this reason, Dion had to cancel all her concerts and focus on treatments. This is undoubtedly the most important thing; her fans are waiting for her with open arms.
