Golshifteh Farahani made a strong return to the cinema with the blockbuster Tyler Rake 2 alongside Chris Hemsworth in June. At 40 years old – which she celebrates this July 10th, 2023 – the actress from Iran is equally at ease in the independent cinema of her homeland, France, and in Hollywood superproductions.
Golshifteh Farahani’s Private Life
What about her private life, an enchanting actress who has conquered audiences around the world? She has notably been associated with a French actor and director, now married to a star. After marrying Amin Mahdavi, brother of the decorator India Mahdavi in 2003, Golshifteh Farahani divorced in 2011. Then, the one who had to exile from Iran after participating in the political thriller State of Lies alongside Leonardo DiCaprio was the companion of Louis Garrel. Together, they signed the feature film Les Deux Amis in 2015 and in the pages of the magazine Marie Claire, the duo talked about their collaboration. “There is a large part of me in Mona because he wrote this character for me, inspired by me and thinking of me. And he also directed me as lovingly as Vincent [Macaigne, ed],” the actress said at the time. A film that deals with love, break-up and loyalty and Louis Garrel talks about it without taboos: “You can be unfaithful to the person you love, not necessarily by cheating on them sexually but by lying to them about who you really are.” An enriching experience for Golshifteh Farahani, but it will leave her with repercussions because it was “difficult to live” because of “Louis Garrel’s reactions on set, […] for the first time, [she] felt like a bad actress […] and once the shoot was over, [she] completely destroyed”.

Now, each of the two actors is following their own sentimental path. Married to a French-Australian psychologist, Christos Dorje Walker in 2015, the Iranian actress said she separated from him in 2018. She now lives between Porto and Ibiza after having lived in Paris for eight years. Louis Garrel, who was also in a relationship with Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi and adopted a daughter, Oumy, with her, said yes to Laetitia Casta in 2017 in Lumio in Corsica. He managed to put the ring on the finger of the top model, already mother of three children from previous relationships, then of a boy with the actor. In the magazine Elle, she explained having overcome her fear of marriage after gaining confidence, convinced by her lover, whose intelligence and clumsiness melted her heart.
