A Devastating Loss
Jean-Baptiste Maunier was not prepared to live through such a tragedy. Only one month after the birth of his second child, a little boy named Joseph, the former star of the film Les Choristes now has to face a much less joyous situation. Indeed, this Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, he announced the sudden death of his grandmother in an emotionally charged Instagram story… Devastated by the loss of a loved one, the 32-year-old actor has no words. Desiring to publicly pay tribute to his grandmother, he nevertheless grabbed his cell phone to post a story on which he quoted the writer and philosopher Jean d’Ormesson. “There is something stronger than death, it is the presence of the absent in the memory of the living… Rest in peace, grandmother,” he simply wrote on a black background, without providing any more details about his loss.
A Joyous Occasion
It must be said that this tragedy occurs only a few weeks after a great joy: the birth of his second child. On May 11th, the actor and his partner Léa Arnezeder announced the birth of little Joseph, their second son. The first, named Ezra, was born on September 3rd, 2019. If the young father had been on a real little cloud for a month, the return to reality is therefore particularly hard and brutal.
A Discreet Couple
For the moment, Jean-Baptiste Maunier has not discussed his loss in more detail and no doubt he will keep it for himself and his close family. Meanwhile, he can of course count on the support of his dear and tender and on the presence of his two sons to change his mind. For information, Jean-Baptiste Maunier and Léa Arnezeder (younger sister of actress Nora Arnezeder) have been a couple for almost eight years now but remain very discreet about their private life. It is known, however, that they had a civil union in 2020 since they both announced it on their respective social networks. A very simple moment immortalized by a selfie of the couple taken in front of the town hall of the 9th arrondissement of Paris. This symbolic union occurred a few months after the birth of their first son Ezra.
