Jean-Paul Belmondo has had a long list of romantic relationships throughout his life. He is known for being a great seducer, with an aura that made him attractive to women. In the early days of his career, he was in a long-term relationship with a young Italian actress, which was mentioned in the documentary La folle histoire de Jean-Paul Belmondo. In the 1970s, he was involved with the beautiful Laura Antonelli, whom he met on the set of the movie Docteur Popaul by Claude Chabrol in 1972. They stayed together for many years until 1980.

Laura Antonelli unfortunately experienced a drastic downfall in her life. According to Télé Star, she ended up living “cloistered on the first floor of an unappealing building in Ladispoli, about forty kilometers from Rome”. She was given an allowance of 510 euros per month reserved for indigent performing arts. Le Monde also added that in 1991, the carabinieri discovered 24 grams of cocaine in her villa in Cerveteri (Latium). She was sentenced to three and a half years in prison but to be served at home, before being acquitted on appeal six years later. Jean-Paul Belmondo had not attended her funeral when she passed away in 2015.

Despite her downfall, Jean-Paul Belmondo did not attend her funeral when she died in 2015.
