Johnny Depp’s 60th Birthday Gift to Charities

For his sixty years – celebrated on June 9th – Johnny Depp decided to make a six-figure gift to five different charities. The round figure agreed by the two, arrived – as the actress explained on social media – “after a long reflection”, was precisely one million dollars, which today – according to sources close to Depp – have been divided into five equal shares of 200,000 dollars, to be allocated to five different non-profit organizations. The five realities that will receive the donation are the Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, the Amazonia Fund Alliance and the Tetiaroa Society.

Johnny Depp’s Lawyers Announcement

Johnny Depp’s choice to donate the amount agreed after the long and troubled process with Amber Heard had in fact already been announced at the time by the actor’s lawyers. “We are pleased to officially close the door to this painful chapter for Mr. Depp, who clarified during this process that his priority was to bring the truth to light,” Depp’s lawyers announced in a statement released in December. “The payment of 1 million dollars – which Mr. Depp has promised and will donate (in truth) to charities – reinforces Mrs. Heard’s recognition of the conclusion of the rigorous search for justice by the legal system.”

Amber Heard’s Statement

Less satisfied – obviously – was the statement released by Amber Heard: “It is important for me to say that I never chose this,” Heard wrote in her statement. “I defended my truth, and in doing so my life, because I knew it had been destroyed. The denigration I faced on social media is an amplified version of the way women are once again made victims when they come forward.”
