A Rising Star in Canada

Born on March 10, 1986, Vadim Schneider died on September 8, 2003 in Montreal, barely 17 years old. A rising star in Canada, particularly in theater and on the small screen, the actor died as a result of a tragic car accident, along with actress Jaclyn Linetsky who was aboard the vehicle. They were on their way together to the set of the youth series 15/A, in which he played a very promising young tennis player. The simultaneous death of the two actors had to be integrated into the series’ script by the producers. Many had difficulty accepting this tragedy, especially the families of the two deceased, of course.

A Well-Known Family in France

Vadim Schneider was from a rather well-known family in France since he was the brother of Niels and Vassili Schneider. The latter was only 4 years old when he faced mourning. He admits not understanding the gravity of this loss at the time, but being encouraged by this ordeal to later go to Paris to attend Claude Lelouch’s school. Each brother lived through this period very differently. Niels Schneider, who is 12 years older than Vassili, had developed certain rituals to keep Vadim with him. “I wore my brother’s clothes, my brother’s perfume, lived in my brother’s room,” he tells in the pages of Vanity Fair magazine. But it is also his disappearance that allowed me to put my finger on what I really wanted to do: actor.

A Merit Scholarship in His Memory

In tribute, a merit scholarship celebrates his memory every year at the Jean-de-Brébeuf college. As for Niels Schneider, he has kept Vadim’s memory in his head ever since. Impossible not to think of him while happiness is in full swing here below. In a relationship with Virginie Efira, he is about to become a father for the first time… Find the interview with the Schneider brothers in the May 31, 2023 issue of Vanity Fair magazine.
