A Happy and United Family
Last June, exclusively on the cover of Vanity Fair, telling the end of their marriage after twenty-five years together and three children, Sonia Bruganelli and Paolo Bonolis had clarified: “There are no third people or lovers involved. We are separated, yet we are closer than ever. We will continue to be so for our family, between us. The feeling is strong, but it is no longer the one that brought us together. We are parents, we will continue to take vacations together, we will maintain the same dynamics”. Promise kept: both the host and the ex-wife flew as every summer to Formentera, the island that for years has been their love refuge. The paparazzi have immortalized them on the beach with the two youngest children, eighteen-year-old Davide and fourteen-year-old Adele. And the images tell, net of the separation, a happy and united family. As if nothing had happened.
A New Relationship in which Love Continues to Reign
Yet everything has changed. Even at the social level. This year there is no trace of Paolo in the holiday postcards that Sonia publishes on her Instagram profile. Like the selfie accompanied by a cryptic phrase: “The light we have inside, sometimes, also comes out”. Paolo and Sonia met twenty-five years ago: at the time he, an already established host, was 36 years old, she, a young professional, 23. In ’97 they officially announced their relationship, in 2002 the marriage arrived, crowned by the birth of three children: Silvia, Davide and Adele (Bonolis is also the father of Stefano and Martina, born from the previous marriage with Diane Zoeller). For more than a year Bonolis and Bruganelli had chosen to live in adjacent but separate houses. A decision that had unleashed crisis rumors but that she had explained like this: “It’s the secret to staying together all your life”. Instead last April the gossip had launched the bombshell news of the break. The host and the ex-wife first denied it with a video (“they are just rumors”), then interviewed together they admitted that the feeling that had united them for 25 years had changed: “When we got engaged I was 23, I was not yet graduated, he was a man. Only with time and in the face of certain circumstances have we become aware of our differences. For example, Paolo has always been very romantic and very passionate, unlike me who are not at all”. Paolo and Sonia are no longer a couple. Yet with great maturity, even for the sake of the children, they have managed to build a new relationship in which love continues to reign. Of course, under another form. But it is still love.
