Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness Separate After 27 Years of Marriage
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have announced the end of their marriage. “We have had the fortune to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful and loving marriage. Our journey now is changing and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” reads the statement released to People magazine by the couple to announce the end of their love story. Together they became parents of Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18. “Our family will always be our priority,” they added. “We begin this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness. We appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family goes through this transition in all our lives.”
The Last Declaration of Love
According to the couple’s statement to People, no further comments will be made on the decision taken. One of the last declarations of love dates back to last April 11th, when Jackman posted a photo with his wife on his social media on their 27th wedding anniversary, reaffirming his deep love for her. “Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, your generosity, your humor, your frankness, your courage and your loyalty are an incredible gift to me.” The last public outing together was at Wimbledon.
The Beginning of a Love Story
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness met in 1995 on the set of the Australian series Corelli and from that moment their love story began. Only a year later they got married. Jackman has often recounted the first meeting, remembering how he was struck by Deborra-lee Furness, who at the time was already an established actress. “Deb, she was a big star,” the actor recalled of that meeting on set. “I’m picked up for the set and Deb’s in the front seat of the car.
