Elton John’s Accidental Fall

The 76-year-old singer spent the night in the Orthopaedic Department of the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco, where he was admitted after an accidental fall in his villa in Nice, in the south of France, where he was spending his holidays. The artist suffered some slight injuries, was treated and returned home. “Elton went to the local hospital as a precaution,” the singer said in a statement. “After the tests, he was immediately discharged and is now in good health”.

Elton John’s Farewell Tour

Elton John spent the summer in France with his husband David Furnish and their two sons Zachary and Elijah, after completing his long Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour in July. He had last been seen on his superyacht, enjoying a relaxed day with a group of friends in St Tropez on 22 August. Earlier in the month he had also dined with Kevin Spacey in Nice, after the actor was acquitted of sexual assault charges against four men (the singer was a witness in his defence). Although Elton John has not ruled out releasing new albums in the future, he has decided to suspend tours to spend more time with his husband David and their children. He has not announced a definitive retirement from the stage, and will probably still “do a show” from time to time. But “touring is exhausting for me now,” he explained. “And it takes me away from my family and my children”.

Elton John’s Love for His Family

Family seems to be what matters most to Elton, who called his children “the greatest thing” in his and his husband David’s life. On his 75th birthday he wrote a letter to his children, published in Time magazine, in which he called them his “greatest accomplishment”. “Zachary and Elijah, you two are the greatest gifts I have ever been given,” his letter reads. “You have filled my heart with love and my life with purpose and meaning in ways I never thought possible. I love you both so, so much… Whoever you become as adults, just be yourselves, fully and completely yourselves“.
