Linda Evangelista’s Ongoing Ordeal

Exactly two years ago, in September 2021, Linda Evangelista, one of the top models that made the world dream in the Nineties, revealed in a social post that she had disappeared from the scene due to a cryolipolysis (a treatment to remove fat) that had “permanently deformed and brutally disfigured” her, so much so that it forced her to live – for five years – as a recluse. Then in September 2022 the legendary model returned to the catwalks, closing the Fendi fashion show during the New York Fashion Week: the first after 15 years and after the trauma of the failed aesthetic intervention.

Breast Tumors Diagnosis

Now, however, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the fifty-eight-year-old has revealed that her ordeal is not over: “I have had two breast tumors in five years”. The first diagnosis came in 2018, following a mammogram. “After the report I had no hesitation. I opted for a bilateral mastectomy. I wanted to leave everything behind”. Four years later, in 2022, the disease returned. And this time Linda told her oncologist to “dig a hole in her chest”: “I don’t care about the aesthetic effect, I want you to dig. I want to see a hole in my chest when you’re done. Do you understand me? I don’t want to die from this”. The operation went well, but the oncologist explained to the model that every time the tumor reappears, “there is a chance that it will come back again”. And Evangelista has “a high probability of recurrence”: “I’m a survivor waiting. Everything I will have from now on will be a bonus”.

Living Life to the Fullest

Once again, the top model chose to face the situation and live every moment to the fullest. On September 17, during the London Fashion Week, the book starring Linda Evangelista, Linda Evangelista photographed by Steven Meisel, will be presented, the proceeds of which the fifty-eight-year-old will donate to breast cancer research. A few days later, on September 20, the small screen debut will take place: The Supermodels docu-series will start on Apple Tv +, where Evangelista appears alongside Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington. And today Linda, knowing that she has an uncertain future, says she is “happy”: “I’m happy for my life. I’m happy to be alive”.
