Marion Bartoli’s Media Career
Since she decided to fully embark on a media career, Marion Bartoli is certainly not going unnoticed. A former very high-level tennis player, winner of the Wimbledon tournament in 2013 and considered one of the best French players of the last decades, the champion from the Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire) made a career change after her professional sports career. Becoming a media consultant, she carved out a place of choice, even getting her own show on RMC, Bartoli Time. A weekly show in which she talks about sporting news and it is she who conducted the famous extremely controversial interview of the former president of the French Football Federation, Noël le Graët.
Marion Bartoli’s Criticism of France Télévisions
In addition to her radio activity, the champion is also a luxury consultant on Amazon Prime Video. A role she has already held in the past on the airwaves of France Télévisions, but obviously she did not have only good to remember from her experience. “People are complaining more and more because there is a lot of advertising, the matches are getting shorter,” she said to her former employer and her coverage of Roland-Garros.
Laurent Luyat’s Response
At the presentation of the Paris Grand Slam tournament since 2003, Laurent Luyat is an institution on the public service. A popular and beloved face of viewers, the 55-year-old journalist did not particularly appreciate the remarks of his former colleague and he did not hesitate to say so, in an interview given to a media outlet and posted online on May 28. “I’m always shocked that a consultant from a channel criticizes his competitors. There are things that are not done. I have always practiced fraternity since I started this job,” he retorts to a question about Marion Bartoli’s comments. Apparently disappointed with the attitude of the former athlete, Laurent Luyat does not remember ever having experienced such a situation. “For my part, I have never seen a consultant criticize a competitor. This is the first time I have seen this, I did not find it very elegant. I think she could have abstained but these remarks are not important,” concludes the journalist, quite angry.
