Difficulties Ahead for Prince Harry’s Return to London

It is unclear how Prince Harry reacted to the “summons” to London by Charles III, but it is certain that father and son should meet face to face on September 17th, in a meeting that could mark the long-awaited turning point between the two. The conditional is still mandatory, as according to the Telegraph, citing an insider, “Neither Charles nor William would have any intention of seeing him”. The king and his second-born have not seen each other since last May 6th, the day of Charles’ coronation, when, however, they had no chance of a confrontation (not even a chat alone, apparently). This time, however, it will be very different. Charles will return to London from Balmoral in mid-September, on the same days that his son will be in Germany for the 2023 edition of the Invictus Games, the Olympics dedicated to war veterans that he conceived in 2014. And when, on September 16th, the Games will come to an end, Harry could take advantage of a short “window” of availability of the father, who on the 20th will be on an official visit to France with his wife Camilla.

Accommodation and Security Challenges

Harry, in fact, will already be in London on September 7th with Meghan, to attend a charity event, the Well Child Awards, when the royal family will still be in Scotland. From Charles, on the other hand, he should go alone by his father’s express will, who would not want his daughter-in-law at court. However, it will not only be the lack of the consort that will make the return to the homeland difficult. The first knot to be solved is that of accommodation. Harry no longer has a house in Britain after the more or less willing “eviction” from Frogmore Cottage, a gift from Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of the wedding with Meghan. According to the Telegraph, if Harry wanted to use a royal residence during his stay he would have to ask for permission; it would be simpler to take advantage of the hospitality of someone of trust, and in this sense his cousins Beatrice and Eugenie, who have never interrupted their relationship with him and with Markle, could certainly support him; the second daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Andrew of York, in particular, also went to visit the Sussexes in California, as told by the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan. The second difficulty, however, is on the security front. Not being a senior member of the royal family anymore, the prince will have to take care of it privately, because it is no longer the task of the British police to take care of the matter.

The Palace’s Private Reception of Prince Harry

Details, compared to the climate that Harry will find at the Palace, because if in public the royal family has put a brave face in the face of the prince’s attacks, in private it will not be the same.
