Ricky Martin and the sweet kiss to his husband Jwan Yosef: the strongest love of all
After six years of marriage, Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef said goodbye. They revealed it in a joint note released on social media by the parties directly involved: “We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have lived as a couple in all these wonderful years”. The 51-year-old Puerto Rican singer and the 38-year-old Syrian painter had met in 2015 through Instagram and had started dating six months later following a dinner in London, where they had met for the first time. The first public appearance was on the red carpet of a charity evening in São Paulo in 2016. In the same year they announced their engagement and in January 2018 the heavily guarded wedding arrived. The marriage proposal had then been told live on the Ellen DeGeneres show by Martin himself: “I got down on my knee and I pulled out this little metal box. It was closed in a velvet bag, but after pulling it out instead of asking ‘Will you marry me?’, I said to him: ‘I got you something, I want to spend my life with you’. And he was looking at me as if asking me ‘What’s the question?’. So I told him: ‘Will you marry me?’ It was beautiful, he said yes”.

A year later the marriage was joined by daughter Lucia, followed in 2019 by her brother Renn, both born from a surrogate mother. At the time, Martin was already a father of the twins Valentino and Matteo, adopted in 2008, as a single, always through a surrogate mother. “The greatest joy are my children”, Martin had declared after the birth of Renn. “Of course, no one sleeps at home anymore. But it’s beautiful”. Now Ricky and Juan’s paths have separated. But the children remain their priority: “Our greatest wish is to continue to have a healthy family dynamic and a relationship based on peace and friendship to continue together the education of our children, preserving the respect and love we have for each one”, they explained in the joint note of the two former spouses.

Who now think of their children but also of their new professional projects: Yosef, after winning several awards for his works, opened a new studio in Los Angeles this year; Martin will be in the cast of Palm Royale, a new series coming out for Apple TV, and he will also be involved in The Trilogy Tour, touring North America with Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias.
