The Official Announcement of a Third Heir

The sign of the times was the official announcement made via Instagram: a few hours ago, the account of Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan gave her subjects and the world the news of the arrival of a third heir. “His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo and Gyaltsuen – the traditional titles given to the king and queen consort, ed. – are happy to share the news that Her Majesty is expecting their third child, due in early autumn. Their Majesties wish to thank everyone for their continued wishes and prayers”. There were many congratulations under the Queen’s post, very popular in the country.

Rumors of a New Pregnancy

Rumors of her new pregnancy had been circulating for a while, at least since the royal couple’s participation in the wedding of Prince Hereditary Hussein of Jordan and Rajwa Al Saif. On that occasion, in fact, Jetsun Pema had worn a dress that revealed a round belly, but until today no official announcement had confirmed the hypothesis of a new pregnancy.

The Asian Kate Middleton

Queen Jetsun – the youngest in the world to wear the crown – is considered a bit like the Asian Kate Middleton, both for her grace and elegance and for the professionalism and seriousness with which she fulfills her institutional role. Married to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck since 2011 (when she was twenty-one and he was ten years older) she has already given the kingdom two little princes: Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel, born in 2016, and Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, born in 2020, whose name – just like the arrival of the third heir – was revealed online, with the sharing of a beautiful family photo.
