The Investigation is Over
Years and years of investigations have come to nothing. In February, Armie Hammer broke his silence on the various allegations, revealed suicidal urges and abuse by a pastor at the age of 13, but the law had yet to express itself on the alleged sexual violence. Now the Los Angeles District Attorney has closed the investigation due to lack of evidence against the actor. There will be no trial, therefore, following the accusation of rape by a woman in 2017.
The Outcome is Disappointing
In 2021, on the internet, Effie, from her Instagram account House of Effie, wrote about four years of relationship based on physical, mental and emotional abuse, stating that the protagonist of Call Me By Your Name had reached increasingly higher levels of violence, up to the alleged rape of 2017. Today she declared in a statement that she is “disappointed” with the outcome of the investigation. According to the woman, Hammer’s other victims are too afraid to come forward, after all, after the complaint, she received various threats, even of death.
A Long Road Ahead
The actor hopes that his reputation will be restored and hopes to move on with his life, which in the meantime has led his wife Elizabeth Chambers to divorce and Hollywood to ostracize him. These are his exact words: “I am very grateful to the District Attorney for conducting a thorough investigation and coming to the conclusion that no crime was committed, as I have always said from the beginning. Now I look forward to beginning a long and difficult process to put my life back together, now that my name has been cleared”. The 36-year-old Californian, nephew of a magnate and heir to a very influential family, had gained fame first in the roles of The Social Network twins and then, precisely, in the service of Luca Guadagnino for Call Me By Your Name. After the scandal, which also gave rise to the horror documentary House of Hammer, he worked as a real estate agent in the Cayman Islands, but who knows what the future holds for him.
